I've got two words for you: IN! SANE!

That's my reaction to reading about this new regulation on the sale OR ACQUISITION of any unlabeled wood or wooden products.

This is so incredibly broad, it seems that being given (note--not just buying, but even acquisition!) a toothpick could subject you to prosecution, if that toothpick does not carry a label as to the genus and species of wood it's made from. Or paper--the regulation even lists paper explicitly. Furthermore, even if they decide not to prosecute you, they can still confiscate the materials.

Un. Be. Lieveable!

So the EPA can regulate, like, everything?

The Heritage Foundation brings our attention to the EPA, which has issued an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) regarding (among many other things) lawnmower motors and highway speed limits for trucks.

That whole Constitution thing...how's that holding up for you? Remind me again, what was the Framers' point in enumerating the specific powers of Congress, if there are no limits (aside from a few specific exceptions in the Amendments)?

If they can set speed limits... [sigh.]

Really, though, that lawsuit that forced them to take on CO₂ emissions as a "pollutant" really opened the door for absolute power. Because we exhale CO₂ when we breathe. If they can, even in ridiculous theory, regulate that, they can do anything.

(Just for the record, of course they're not going to regulate breathing, but I mean that the power to control CO₂ emission in practice has no limits.)
